3rd Sunday of Lent

Nice job last week! We were pretty fully-staffed and everything sounded great! The harmonies on the Psalm were especially lovely and Tree of Life is shaping up nicely. Here's the audio.
This hasn't been announced yet, but the new Mass schedule has been determined. Saturdays will remain at 5 PM. For Sundays, we compromised on 8:30 & 10:30 AM. This will go into effect in May.
Last Saturday, we tried singing four regular verses on Tree of Life, adding the Sunday-specific verse at the end. This seemed to work pretty well, so let's use the same approach for Entrance.
Please be careful of tempo on Hosea; it's easy to take this one too fast (the recording is about right). This song is also fairly short, so we can repeat verses if needed.
For Make Us Worthy. We'll use the choral version shared last week. Let's include the parts on the refrain, and if enough singers, the 'backup choir' parts on the verses (otherwise, don't worry about these). Cantors will be needed for each verse. We'll include the key change, but skip the vamp.
Thanks for the reminder about needing a cue note for the Commendation Song! Sorry, we should have done that from the start. Also, as a parishioner pointed out, keeping the tempo up prevents dragging (especially near the end), which was an ongoing issue before. Tempo-wise, last week was perfect.
I'm still working on finding piano and/or guitar coverage for next week, 03/18. Reach out to me if you know of anyone who can help (I'm very open to suggestions at this point :-).
UPDATE: 03/08: We may have found someone to cover; stay tuned!
If you haven't already, please let me know your preferences for Holy Week rehearsals. We need to nail down a schedule ASAP. Options are: Saturdays @ 3 PM, Sunday afternoons or weeknights. If there's no consensus, I'll pick what works best for the majority. Tentative music will also be going out by email.
Finally, per the announcements, the Parish is working on rebuilding our ministries. In light of that, it may be a good time to start recruiting again. We have some former musicians attending Masses now, and I'm sure there's new talent out there too. Don't be afraid to invite folks if you see them!
That's all for now. Be well and have a great week!
