By His Wounds,
We are Healed and Saved
2nd Sunday of Lent

Thanks for a solid start to the Lenten season! We had quite a bit to cover, but everything came together fairly well. Here's the audio.
Last week, we tried singing the Penitential Rite as a group (rather than with cantor(s) on the verses). This seemed to work OK. I'm fine with continuing to sing the Penitential this way, but if anyone would like to cantor, it's been added to the cantor schedule. We'll take another look on Saturday.
For Tree of Life, singing all the verses for Gathering didn't appear to be a problem. We'll see if length is an issue for Offertory, though -- if it is, we may skip some of the regular verses and jump right to the Sunday-specific verse at the end. Also, since we ran out of time, let's take a peek at that descant too.
For the Psalm, would anyone be interested in joining me? There are some great harmonies on both the refrain, as well as verses 3 & 4. If not, no problem!
UPDATE: 03/03: Ken & Maggie will join me on this (thanks, guys!).
Joe raised a good point about us not blocking the flow of Communion. If we could stand on the left side of the isle (rather than center), that'll allow folks in the other lines to more easily return to their seats.
Please make sure you know how verse 3 on Return to God flows. It's structured differently than verses 1 & 2 (see recording). It would be nice to include the parts on this one.
Make Us Worthy is on the board for Communion next week, 03/11. The music/details went out by email (will also have hard copies available). Let's spend a few minutes reviewing it.
We didn't have a chance to discuss Holy Week rehearsals. Please stay tuned for an email on this. Any thoughts or preferences on days/times that work best would be appreciated!
Bev & Frank are out on 03/18. I'm seeing if one of our Sunday pianists can cover, but it's not looking promising. It would be good to have a backup plan for no accompaniment that Saturday.
Finally, a reminder to please be ready to start rehearsal right at 4:00. We tend to lose a good 10-15 min. each week. We need that time to comfortably pull together programs (and for wiggle room :-).
UPDATE: 03/02: Per the Office, there is at least one death announcement this week, so we'll need to sing the Commendation Song at the end of Mass.
I think that's all for now. Thanks as always for everything you do, and see you Saturday!
