Christmas Eve / Nativity of the Lord

Nicely done last week! That may have been our strongest Mass of the Advent season. I also appreciate everyone taking the extra time on our Christmas program. Here's the audio

Merry Christmas! The plan for this week is below. Let me know if you have questions.

Dress rehearsal will be on Friday, 12/23 @ 4 PM (note the time change). We have two hours blocked, but I'll try not to take that long. The goal is to go through the entire program and sort out parts, arrangements & logistics. Let's definitely spend some extra time on the prelude & postlude too.

NOTE: If there's bad weather, we may need to have an abbreviated rehearsal the day-of instead (or look at virtual options). I'd really prefer not to go that route, but we'll see with this storm. Stay tuned.

UPDATE: 12/23: Due to the extremely low temps, high winds & ice conditions, tonight's dress rehearsal is canceled. We'll meet around 5 PM tomorrow to review the program; see email for details.

After rehearsal, we won't be able to leave everything standing. Leaving equipment in the choir space (extra stands, etc.) should be fine, but we'll need to reset everything for the 4 PM Children's Mass.

On Saturday, please be ready to start by 5:15 PM. That'll give us 45 minutes to prep and spot-check music. We'll need a few minutes for the prelude (right before Mass) and time for a quick group photo. If any Sunday folks join us (an invite went out today), please fill them in and make them feel welcome!

We're also planning to Zoom the 6 PM Mass. Let's make it a point to check our balance, both in the house and on Zoom. Ideally, everyone will need to be mic'd (instrumentalists too).

Finally, here's what the Mass schedule looks like and (if you're curious) who's covering what:
  • Christmas Eve - 4 PM (Children's Mass):
    • Joanne - piano
    • Lisa L. & Cindy F. - cantors
    • Cris - Children's Choir conductor
    • Connor M. - drums
  • Christmas Eve - 6 PM:
    • Bev - piano
    • Cris - music director
    • Maggie (violin), Jonathan (guitar - tentative) & Joe (percussion) - instrumentalists
    • Lisa K., Ken, Mary, Jake, Rich & Melissa - choir
    • Out - Ben, Frank, Tom, Ginny
  • Christmas Day - 10:15 AM:
    • Lisa K. - cantor
    • Barb P. - organ
I think that's all for now. Thanks again, stay safe and looking forward to a great celebration!
