Songs & Updates for Saturday, November 19, 2022 [updated]

Feast of Christ the King

Nice job last week! The choir sounded strong and the harmonies were nice (especially for Communion). Many folks also appreciated the recognition of Veteran's Day, so thanks for sticking around. Here's the audio.

With Tuesday's snowstorm, a reminder to let the group know of any weather-related absences this winter. Since we don't normally cancel activities, this will give us a chance to get organized.

Our first Advent/Christmas rehearsal is on Saturday @ 3 PM. I'll (hopefully) have hard copies of the prelude, plus black binders, available. In the meantime, check out this YouTube video, which includes the music (will also send a scan if it arrives early enough). Let's look at Mass of Joy & Peace (the setting we normally switch to for Advent/Christmas) as well, and if time, other music for the season.

Father re-added the Gloria to the program this week. Since it's been a while, we'll review it during rehearsal. After this weekend, we won't sing the Gloria again until Christmas.

We may want to check the rhythms on The Trumpet in the Morning to make sure we're singing them the same way. Cantors will also be needed for the verses on Bring Forth the Kingdom. And if you're up for it, harmonies & descants are certainly welcome on all music this week :-).

Finally, next Saturday kicks off both Liturgical Year A and the Advent season. We'll likely have a pretty full rehearsal, so please try to look ahead at the music if you can. Ken's also assembled a group for the Psalm, which should be fun. Stay tuned for more on Advent/Christmas planning!
