33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time

Here's to a fun guitar Mass last week (and a huge thanks to Frank for taking this on)! It's been three years since we've done one of these -- beyond a few minor issues with getting into the feel of it again, everything came together really well. The Psalm was a highlight, done Jim-style. Here's the audio.

Please take a look at Father's Gathering & Sending songs. Both are pieces we don't normally sing. Let's keep the tempos up to prevent dragging (see the sample recordings). Harmonies are also welcome :-).

We've only done the Psalm a couple of times. The first refrain will be a capalla, before adding in accompaniment on the repeat. If anyone would like to join me, we could harmonize.

For Offertory & Communion, please make sure you're comfortable with the melodies and rhythms, especially on the verses (they're mostly all different). Harmonies would be great too!

Father's birthday is this Monday, 11/14 -- let's plan to sing 'Happy Birthday' before the Sending Forth.

Looking ahead, let me know if you're planning to be out over Thanksgiving weekend, 11/26. That's also the 1st Sunday of Advent, so I want to make sure we're good on coverage.

Finally, our Christmas prelude will be Hayden's version of Mary, Did You Know? (the music is on order). I'm open to adding other pieces, but just trying to give us more time on the rest of the program. Could we kick off 3 PM rehearsals next weekend, 11/19? That'll give us 4-6 rehearsals to play with.

UPDATE: 11/11: I'd like to make one addition to tomorrow's program. I completely missed recognizing Veteran's Day, so could we please sing America the Beautiful after the Sending Forth? If you're not able to stick around, though, no worries -- this will be really informal and we'll just invite folks to join in singing if interested.

I think that's all for now. Thanks as always and have a great week!
