Christmas Eve
Nativity of the Lord
Great work last week! We had a productive Christmas rehearsal and ended the Advent season on a high note. Father also passed along his compliments. Here's the audio.
Merry Christmas, all! After last year's hiatus, it's wonderful to come together again in song! Here's the plan for this week (sorry for the longer post). Let me know if any questions or corrections.
Singers:
Lisa (soprano), Ginny (soprano/alto), Mary (soprano), Maggie (alto/tenor), Karen (alto), Cris (tenor) and Ken (tenor/bass)
Instrumentalists:
Bev (piano), Maggie (violin), Jonathan (guitar) and Joe (percussion)
Out: Tom B.
(If you haven't already, please add yourself to the musician signup HERE)
And if anyone else would like to join (all are welcome!), please let me know & try to make rehearsal.
Dress Rehearsal:
Thurs., 12/23, 6-8 PM - Sanctuary
Please arrive early to set up
Christmas Eve:
Fri., 12/24 - Children's Mass @ 4 PM - Sanctuary
Please arrive no later than 3 PM
Preludes start @ 3:45 PM
(Masses will also be on 12/24 @ 6:30 PM & 12/25 @ 10:15 AM, both Zoomed & in the Sanctuary)
The 4 PM Mass is a Children's Liturgy, but with a few tweaks from past years (see below). There's no Children's Choir or Homily Program. We'll also (mostly) follow the Eucharistic Prayer for Children.
Father approved our selections with no changes. We haven't needed a Christmas Psalm in a while, so Today is Born Our Savior is new. Wood of the Cradle was introduced last year and may be new as well. The rest should be familiar. I'll have copies of the music for your binders Thursday.
For dress rehearsal, we'll go through the entire program to sort out arrangements and logistics. Ideally, after rehearsal, we should leave as much standing as possible to minimize setup on Friday.
When we meet Friday, I'm not planning any serious rehearsal; depending on what shakes out of Thursday's practice, we'll probably just run/spot-check a few things as needed.
Due to Christmas falling on a Saturday this year, there will not be regular Saturday Mass on 12/25. However, Feast of the Holy Family will be celebrated separately on Sunday, 12/26 @ 10:15 AM. There's a similar situation for next weekend; stay tuned.
Finally, thanks so much for all that you do and helping to bring our Ministry back after the COVID shutdown! Considering we were still limited to cantor Masses & virtual choir videos last year, it's a big step forward. I really appreciate your work on this program & look forward to sharing it!
If I don't see you, Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!
