2nd Sunday of Advent

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving weekend!

The weather decided to play nice and our season of Advent got off to a pretty solid start. Prepare! Prepare! was fun to pull out again and Wait for the Lord is a lovely addition to our repertoire. After Mass, we made some progress on the arrangement for God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen and touched on Carol and Finale. Audio can be found HERE (two different sources due to a battery issue).

The cantor schedule for December is ready to go (HERE). Let me know if any issues.

Please take a look at the parts on People Look East and Comfort, Comfort. If possible, let's do the former with accompaniment and the latter a capella. It may also be worth reviewing the verses on Now in This Banquet. Don't forget that we'll be reintroducing the Penitential Rite as well.

There's no Christmas rehearsal after Mass this week. The next time we meet (12/14), we'll likely start getting into regular Mass music. If we could include parts on these pieces too, that would be great! I'd also suggest starting to put together your binders (copies of all the music should be in the cabinet). Once we know what the children's program looks like and decide on instrumental preludes, we can finalize the program. In the meantime, selections will likely include the following:
Last week, we also made the decision to drop Masters in This Hall from the Christmas program. This is a fairly complex piece and we unfortunately don't have enough singers (or time) to pull it off effectively. We'll likely revisit it next year.

Finally, I'm going to be a bit late to practice due to the SCCS Christmas concert. I'm hoping to make it back to the Church by 4:45 (5:00 at the latest). Feel free to get started without me.
