1st Sunday of Lent
Thanks for another strong Mass last week! I Am the Bread of Life was definitely a highlight; it was nice to do some songs that where outside of our usual repertoire as well. I'm also happy to report that we're back up to five music stands (the broken one was fixed/replaced :-). A few of us stuck around afterward to work on Lent music, including Hold Us in Your Mercy (Penitential Rite), Mass of Remembrance and Merciful God (new Gathering song).Welcome to Lent! As Father mentioned, our theme this year is Change Our Hearts. The entire schedule for the season was in the Bulletin, but if you missed it, can be found HERE. As previously discussed, we usually play for Good Friday and Easter Sunday; please mark your calendars and stay tuned for details.
Our music for March has been approved with a couple of minor tweaks. The cantor schedule is also ready to go.
Liturgies for Ash Wednesday will be celebrated on 03/06 at 9 AM (Bev, piano) and 7 PM (Barb's group). Please come sing/play for either of these Masses -- it'll be a great way to kick off the Lenten season.
Since we're celebrating the 1st Sunday of Lent this weekend, don't forget to look over the music ahead of time and come a bit early if possible. We have a lot to cover and not much time to do it. Definitely make sure you're comfortable with Mass Parts and the new Gathering song. I'll see about reviewing the Penitential Rite with Father (ie sorting out that ending, etc.). The Offertory, Communion and Closing songs would also be worth looking at, as these can sometimes be a bit tricky to keep together.
We agreed to meet again after Mass to continue working on Lent/Easter music. Please plan to stick around from ~7-8 PM. We'll start working on I Will Rise and touch on Lent music as needed.
I think that's all for now. Thanks for bearing with me as we jump into another important liturgical season, and let me know if any questions!
