Songs & Updates for Saturday, January 19, 2019 [updated]

2nd Sunday in Ordinary Time / Baptism
Good work last week! We ended up with more folks out than anticipated, but still had some nice harmony on several pieces. One Bread, One Body was a highlight. It was also great to have our area reset back to normal after several weeks in the Children's Christmas Choir configuration (we actually gained some space in the back corner near the door/cabinet :-).

Our music for the rest of January has been approved with no changes. I'll begin picking music for February in the next week or so. Keep in mind, though, that when we hit Lent in early March, Father will likely select the majority of the music (with some input from the choir heads).

In filing away our music from Christmas, I'm still missing one black binder. If you by chance have it, no worries; just don't forget to bring it back so we have these on hand for next time.

A couple of equipment-related updates: first, for those who have asked, the issue with the choir mic in the second row (nearest the drums) is being looked into. It might just be a bad cable, but we're not sure yet (stay tuned). Also, as far as the problem with lighting, some book/stand lights may be an easy solution. I'll do some checking on this, and we can go from there.

We have a Baptism this week, so I'd love to be as close to full staff as possible (please be on time for practice :-). Of note, we'll sing Killoren's Hosanna, Glory for Gathering. Come to the River is also on the board for the Sprinkling Rite -- we've only done this piece one other time, so look it over if unfamiliar.

UPDATE: 01/16: Due to the impending weather, the Baptism has been canceled by the family. Our new Gathering song will be SS #111, Gather Your People. Obviously, please use your own judgement as far as coming for Mass. In the interim, let's coordinate any logistics by email. Thanks, and stay safe!

Finally, as far as a get-together to discuss planning for the year, could we aim for February 9th? I didn't get much feedback on this, so if that date doesn't work, let me know and we'll re-evaluate. More details to follow. Thanks!
