Baptism of the Lord
Thanks for a solid Mass last week! We had several folks out, but ended up with large group of singers to balance things out. I would say Lord, Today is worth doing again, especially if we have a bit of time to learn the harmonies and work out any bugs.
Our music for the rest of January has been sent to the Office for approval. Will let you know of any changes. Note that there's a Baptism scheduled for 01/19, and again, Jim and Joe will be out on 01/26. As we get back into Ordinary Time next weekend, selections should more-or-less return to our usual mix of music from both books. We don't have any other major celebrations to worry about until Lent begins in early March (start thinking about Lent/Easter preludes :-).
We haven't done One Bread, One Body in a very long time. Stylistically, this song can run the gamut from traditional to acoustic to contemporary, so I'm hoping to find some middle ground. If you have a chance to look at the voice parts, that would be great. We'll be doing this piece throughout January.
As far as the extra chairs in our section (the ones that were added for the Children's Christmas Choir), Tom and I ended up stacking some of them against the wall. This opened up some space so we had room to move. Everything should be reset back to normal by Saturday.
Finally, I'm starting to look at dates for an after-Mass get-together to discuss goals/planning for the year. At this point, I'm thinking early/mid-February, perhaps 02/09 or 02/16. Please let me know if these dates would work and we can go from there. Thanks!
