17th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Thanks for another solid Mass last week! Our ratio of singers to instrumentalists was a bit off, but no major issues. Once again, I appreciate everyone stepping up to fill in the gaps.As you know, thanks to a generous donation from the Maund Family, we now have three additional music stands in the choir section (there will be a thank-you card for Jim on Saturday if folks would like to sign it). I'll likely have a couple of these set up each week next to the front row mics for books, etc..
The music for August has been sent to the Office for approval. Stay tuned for the cantor schedule.
At the beginning of the year, we briefly discussed the idea of creating a master contact list for the group. This would give us alternate methods for reaching each other when needed. I'm drafting a spreadsheet for this, and will put out a separate email with details later.
Don't forget to look at our new Gathering song, Gather Your People. It looks like this piece is in both books, but the harmonies are different. Tentatively, we'll be doing it again later in August.
Just a heads up that there's a Baptism scheduled for 08/04. Come to the River, the Sprinkling Rite from Mass of Glory (SS #001), is tentatively on the board. Materials can be found here (don't worry, this is the only new song planned for August :-).
A strong contender for our August Communion song is Look Beyond. We've done this classic guitar piece a number of times before. It's not in the current edition of Gather, but fits the themes for the month really well (bread coming down from heaven, etc.). If approved, I'll provide music that includes all instrument and voice parts (more complete than what was in the old GC).
As far as I know, we're at full staff this week.
