Thanks for another solid Mass last week! We ended up having a couple of instrumentalists out, but no major issues. About six of us were able to stick around for dinner afterward; we discussed the summer situation while enjoying lasagna, burritos, sausage and a couple of peanut butter-themed desserts (yum :-).

If you haven't already, don't forget to take a look at our Gathering/Closing and Offertory songs for this week. We've only done Spirit Blowing Through Creation once before; One Spirit, One Church is new.

Last Saturday, we (re-)arranged We Are One Body for piano (HERE), adapting the accompaniment from Spirit & Song to fit the Killoren version. There are perhaps a few spots that could use some tweaking, but this seemed to work reasonably well. We'll have to see how this blends with the existing guitar and melodic instrument parts, though.

The new Pastoral Council will be selected during the Pentecost liturgies, so Mass may run slightly long. Ginny and I are both current members, and will be stepping down within the next month or two.

A reminder that there's no Time & Talent Fair this year. At the end of Mass, I'll make the obligatory call for new musicians (unless someone else would like to speak on this). I'd also encourage everyone to actively recruit for both singers and instrumentalists.

Stay tuned for the music selections for June, which should be picked in the next week or so. Keep in mind that we'll be switching back to Mass of Creation at the beginning of June. Also, if you're aware of any summer absences (especially instrumentalists), please let me know so we can plan accordingly.

UPDATE: 05/17: Father will be playing a recording of GC3 #549 - Living Spirit, Holy Fire (HERE), for the Pastoral Council selection after the Homily. We shouldn't need to play it, but I would become familiar with the melody just in case. Thanks!
