Songs & Updates for Saturday, April 14, 2018

This Saturday is the 3rd Sunday of Easter.
Thanks for a solid Mass last week! Despite a couple of minor communication issues, it was a fun program that came together well.

As promised, the recordings from Holy Week can be found here. Sorry for the delay -- it took a bit longer than anticipated to finish the editing.

Our music for the rest of April has been approved. Stay tuned for the cantor schedule.

Good Shepherd musicians have been invited to join the OLV Choir for our combined celebration of Confirmation on Sunday, 04/15, at 3 PM. Details went out by email. I'll be tied up serving as a Sponsor, but if you're available, it should be a wonderful liturgy.

During his Homily on Easter Sunday, Father introduced Goodness is Stronger than Evil (GC3 #828) as our Sprinkling Rite piece for the remainder of the season. It sounds like everyone has the melody line down, but since we're doing this a capella, it would be great to add in the written voice parts as well.

Earlier this week, Father had requested that the choirs sing On the Journey to Emmaus (GC3 #538). However, since the Readings don't really go into this story, he decided not to use it after all. It might be worth revisiting at some point in the future, though. Instead, we'll sing Easter Alleluia.

As mentioned previously, a new family joining the Parish has interest in getting involved with the Music Ministry. I had a chance to speak with these folks on Sunday, and they'd like to come sing (and possibly play guitar) at the 5:30 Mass. Welcome to the group! On a similar note, our counterparts at the 11 AM Mass have brought onboard a new guitarist and tenor saxophonist.

Just a reminder that I'll be out on 04/28. If you'd be interested in taking charge that night, it would be greatly appreciated. I'll handle the planning, but need someone to run rehearsal, establish tempos, give cues, and just keep everything on track (it'll be a Baptism).

Finally, it was brought to my attention that Penn State Graduation is scheduled for the weekend of 05/05. This probably isn't the best night for our quarterly dinner (Bev will be out), so could I propose 04/21 or 05/12 instead? Let me know what works, and we can go from there!
