Songs & Updates for Saturday, March 17, 2018

This Saturday is the 5th Sunday of Lent.
Thanks for another solid Mass lass week! Father Charlie was out again, but Father Baker and Deacon Jack were available to cover. Please keep Deacon Jack in your prayers -- it was great to have him with us, but as you know, he recently suffered a death in the family. We should be back to normal this Saturday.

The Holy Week schedule has been confirmed (barring any last-minute changes). I've only heard from one or two people regarding availability for Good Friday/Easter Sunday, though. I know we're still a couple of weeks out, but I'd like to finalize the music selections and logistics sooner rather than later. If we can get an idea of who will be singing/playing at each liturgy, that would be a huge help. Thanks!

I found out last week that a new family is joining the Parish, and their daughter may be interested in getting involved with the Music Ministry (voice/guitar). She's been given an open invitation to come sing with the choirs and see which group is the best fit.

Ken's idea of forming a sub-group that focuses on choral singing is still on the table. Several folks have been doing this informally for a while now, and I'm hoping to move forward when things quiet down post-Easter. I bring this up because some people have expressed interest in learning voice parts during rehearsal. I'm happy to stop and look at parts, but please keep in mind that it's not always practical due to time constraints (that's especially been true the past couple of weeks). Alternatively, I'm usually available before rehearsal or after Mass if there's something you'd like to go over.

It looks like I had the wrong psalm/page number listed for Be Merciful, O Lord. The correct info is below. Sorry for any confusion.

Remember Your Love is most effective when it gradually gets faster and picks up more energy. We may need to accelerate the process a bit for Offertory, but it should still be doable. We'll end the song with an a capella repeat of the refrain.

We have a new Closing song this week, River of Glory. If you haven't already, please take a look. Assuming this goes well, we'll likely use it again later in the Easter season.

Jim, Joe and Maggie (?) are out this week.
