This Saturday is the 3rd Sunday of Lent.
Repositioning my audio recorder generated some pretty nice recordings -- the vocals and violin are coming through much more clearly (ie not overwhelmed by the accompaniment). A great example is Mountain of God, which was our Gathering song. I'm going to keep tweaking the setup over the next couple of weeks, especially after everyone gets back.
Make Us Worthy is coming together nicely. Ken and I split the verses, and we also added in the key change at the end. We're not going to do the ad-hoc repeat, though (that might be pushing things a bit). Father asked that the verses be stronger, but I think this issue was resolved by having everyone on choir mics, rather than the guitar mics. Also, don't forget Maggie's comments about phrases such as "Lord, make us worthy..." -- the eighth and sixteenth notes must be very distinct (they lose their impact if done legato).
Last week, I went through all of the posts that were ported over from the old website. The goal was to clean up formatting and add/remove labels. Hopefully, older content will now be easier to find.
Our music for March has been approved with no changes. The cantor schedule will be sent out shortly.
Father Charlie will be on the Jamaica Mission Trip from March 3-10. Bear in mind that having a visiting priest will effect how the Mass Parts are handled. One of us will need to cantor the Penitential Rite; any other presider cantor parts will likely spoken.
Bev is out this week. Please be prepared to do Make Us Worthy a capella, possibly with some percussion to keep things together. Also, it'll be our first time this season doing the Mass Parts with guitar accompaniment -- please look over the music if you haven't already (materials below). I'll be available at 4 PM Saturday if anyone would like to meet early.
