This Saturday is the 28th Sunday in Ordinary Time.
Huge shout-out to Eva for being our sole instrumentalist last Saturday! Special thanks as well to the folks who stepped up to cantor the Psalm, Alleluia, and the first part of the Communion song!
Despite being short on musicians and a compressed rehearsal, we had a nice-sized group of singers and Mass ended up going pretty well.
Congratulations to Group Therapy on what appeared to be another successful performance (at least, from the bits and pieces I saw on Facebook :-)
Please welcome Frances' boyfriend Kyle to the group! It sounds like he's interested in singing with us regularly.
Our music for October has been approved with no changes.
Our program this week is all fun, familiar tunes. Ken, Mary and Maggie have the Psalm, so let's plan to run this first at rehearsal. I'd also like to spend a bit of extra time perfecting the Communion song.
According to Father Charlie, we should be back in the Worship Space by mid-October, but it goes without saying that this could change. If I hear anything, I'll let you know!
The Parish Office is exploring the possibility of replacing our current Gather and Spirit & Song books with a different hymnal. As you know, both songbooks are fairly old (1994 and 1999 publish dates respectively), and quite a few copies were not salvageable after the water leak. I've been asked to leaf through the proposed replacement and see if it would fit our needs, especially from the standpoint of Spirit & Song (since we're the primary users). I know this'll probably lead to some challenges, but just be aware that this is coming, and I'll keep you in the loop as new info becomes available.
Finally, just a general reminder for instrumentalists to please let me know as soon as possible if you're planning to be out. If you're able to let me know at least a few weeks ahead, we'll have time to work out coverage and tweak the program to best accommodate available musicians. Feel free to put out a note to the entire group so we're all on the same page. We all have things come up, but I'm just trying to avoid surprises whenever possible. Thanks!
Lisa is out this week.
