This Saturday is the 15th Sunday in Ordinary Time.
Thanks to everyone who was able to be at Mass last week -- there were a few minor issues, but Mass overall went well. Special thanks to those involved with 'America the Beautiful' for both our 'practice run' as a warm-up before Mass, as well as our postlude performance.
At the beginning of 'Glory and Praise', there seemed to be an issue with us not being in sync with Father and/or the congregation. This will be something we'll need to be careful of this go around. We also only did the first three verses since the forth has a different melody that doesn't fit well with the other three.
As always, if you'd like to cantor the Psalm, let me know. I've cantored quite a bit over the past month, and would love to step back and let other folks give this is a try. I'm also considering the possibility of putting together some type of cantor schedule/rotation that will allow us to sort out coverage on a monthly basis rather than waiting until the last minute.
UPDATE: 07/06: Jim volunteered to cover the Psalm. Thanks, Jim!
My thought for 'Servant Song' is to do this along the same lines as 'Where Charity and Love Prevail', very simple with minimal instruments and a bigger focus on the voices.
We used 'Taste and See' last week for the first time as our Communion song. It sounds like we more-or-less have the refrain down, but the verses could still use some attention. We weren't quite together on several of the entrances and triplets. Let's spend a little extra time at practice working on these.
Jim is returning this week (welcome back!).
Eva is out this week.
Tom is out for the remainder of this month.
No practice after Mass, but I'd tentatively like to stick around next Saturday, 7/16, for a rehearsal and special celebration. Details to follow.
