Songs & Updates for Saturday, January 30, 2016

This Saturday is the 4th Sunday in Ordinary Time.
Both Kristen and I were out last week due to the weather. Jim reported that Mass went well with a good showing of singers and he and Maggie covering instruments. We also have a new singer joining us -- welcome to the group!

Last Thursday, a follow-up Lenten Planning Meeting was held to finalize a few details discussed at the original meeting. Father Charlie, Margie and I figured out which verses of 'Whatsoever You Do' will be used for each week of Lent. Also, to clarify what I wrote last week, we will not transitioning directly from 'Whatsoever You Do' into 'Hold Us In Your Mercy' for the Gathering song. The ladder will be sung after the greeting and in place of the Lord Have Mercies.

If anyone would like to cover the Psalm, 'I Will Sing', please let me know. This is a new piece that we haven't looked at as a group yet. If there aren't any takers, I'll tentatively plan to do it.

Finally, I'd like to stick around after Mass for an hour to start looking at music for Lent, including Mass of Remembrance, 'Whatsoever You Do' and 'Hold Us in Your Mercy'. Lent begins the second week of February, and I'm hoping to have the the music for the month picked by the end of this week.
