This Saturday is the 2nd Sunday in Ordinary Time.
Mass last week was probably one of our strongest in quite a while. Huge thanks to Jonathan for covering guitar and Jaclyn for cantoring! Just to give you an idea of how we sounded from where I stood, check out the recording of our Closing song, 'You Are the Voice'.
The Feast of the Baptism of the Lord marked the official end of the Advent/Christmas season. Lent and Easter is right around the corner, though -- a planning meeting is scheduled for this Thursday at 7 PM (I'm planning to be there). As always, if you have any music suggestions for the season, feel free to let me know! There's also a pretty good chance that we'll be switching to Mass of Remembrance within the next month, so you may want to start taking a look at that.
For 'City of God', I'm thinking doing all four verses is too much for Gathering, so if Father has no objections, let's plan to only do verses one and two.
Barb also let me know that the Penitential Rite will once again be on the program, but she's not sure if Father is planning to do it or not. We should be prepared to use it one more time just in case.
Deacon Jack would like all the Choirs to use 'We Are Many Parts' for Mass next Saturday, 1/23, since it lines up nicely with the second reading. I'll probably program it for Offertory like it is this week.
There won't be practice again this week.
