This Saturday is the First Sunday of Lent.
I don't have much in the way of updates this week, as we didn't make it to any of the Good Shepherd masses due to the weather and road conditions.
Ash Wednesday masses are being held on Wednesday at 9 AM and 7 PM. I believe Barb's group is covering the ladder, so feel free to join them.
Our Gathering Song for all of Lent is a new one, 'Dust and Ashes'. Jonathan tells me that you guys reviewed quite a few things after mass on 2/7, but if you haven't looked at this one, please do before mass this weekend. Father would like the song to be done as written (including the call and response).
I'm planning to wrap up selecting music for March between today and tomorrow and get that sent to the Office for approval.
Also keep in mind that we're switching to Mass of Remembrance this week, and that we will not be using the Gloria or Alleluia for the duration of Lent.
Finally, just a reminder that we have a big prelude on the board for next Saturday, 2/28. For those involved in this piece, please be sure to review your parts.
Depending on the timing of a concert Karina has out-of-town, we may or may not make mass this weekend. I'll try to let Jonathan know one way or the other Saturday afternoon.
Tentatively, there will be practice after mass from 6:30-8:00 PM to review Mass of Remembrance, finalize 'Open the Eyes of My Heart', and to take a look at a new psalm for next week, GC 109.

UPDATE (2/17): Jaclyn is in town this weekend and volunteered to cover the Psalm.
UPDATE (2/17): the Office is in need of a cantor for the 9 AM Ash Wednesday mass (details went out by email). If interested, please get in touch with Barb.
UPDATE (2/18): I've scanned and uploaded cleaner copies of the sheet music for Mass of Remembrance (choral/accompaniment edition). They can be found below and on the Mass Settings page.
UPDATE (2/20): my music selections for March have been approved with a few changes by Father Charlie.
Also, I found out from the Office that there's a Rite of Dismissal again this week and we'll also be using the Mass of Remembrance Lenten Gospel Acclamation.
