This Saturday is the 4th Sunday in Ordinary Time.
Mass last week went pretty well -- I once again pass along compliments from a visitor who approached me after mass. Nice work, all!
In addition to running through the program before mass, we continued to adjust the sound system and experimented with balancing instruments and four-part singing on the Mass of Joy & Peace. Both the cantor mic (nearest Karina and Maggie) and the choir mics seem to be working better, but the balance on Joy & Peace is still off. We'll keep working on this in the coming weeks.
After mass, Jonathan, Jim, Maggie, Lisa K., and I stuck around to practice until about 7:30. We started working on our prelude for the end of February, Open the Eyes of My Heart (Paul Baloche). We came up with and tweaked a number of harmonies, as well as started working on a structure for the piece. If you're not familiar with it, we've done this song once before (back in 2013) as part of a Communion medley -- the official recording can be found here and the sheet music here.
If anyone's interested, we still need cantors for both the Psalm and the Alleluia.
The Office let me know last week that there's a Baptism on Saturday -- our usual Sprinkling Rite has been added to the program.
Maggie, Karina and I are out this week.

UPDATE (1/28): I completely forgot that the Gathering song gets replaced by the Gloria for a Baptism. Barb reminded me and made the change in the program. Therefore, we will not do 'God Has Chosen Me' this week (but it's still a cool piece -- I have it in mind as a future prelude...).
