This Saturday is the 14th Sunday of Ordinary Time.
Mass was a little rocky in places last week, between reintroducing Mass of Creation and a Baptism, but we made it through. Thanks to all who were able to be there!
After mass, Jonathan, Lisa K., Maggie, and I stuck around to practice. We focused on two pieces: 'Come to Me, O Weary Traveler' and 'With a Shepherd's Care'.
The former is a new(-ish) piece for some of us, but pretty straight-forward. We worked the choirs parts a bit and it was sounding quite nice a capella by the end.
We also continued to improve upon 'Shepherd's Care', which we started rehearsing the week before last. We still have to sort out who all is available to sing this piece (and a few others). If you're free the afternoon of the Picnic and Dedication (July 20th), please let me know so we can start to get an idea of what kind of manpower we have. We'll also be bringing the other groups in on this, but still have to sort out the best way to approach that. We wrapped up practice around 7:45 PM.
Since this Saturday is the day after the 4th of July, I'm guessing we'll be short on people. If you're able to make it, please let me know so we have some idea of our numbers.
Assuming enough people are available, there will be practice after mass from 7-8 PM.
Barry,
UPDATE: added recordings of 'Shepherd's Care' and 'Weary Traveler' below from practice after mass Saturday. Not the best quality and both include a few mistakes, but I hope that helps give you guys an idea of what both pieces will sound like.
