This Saturday is the Fifth Sunday of Easter.
Last week, we were very short-staffed, but still managed to do quite well. Huge thanks to all who were able to make it!
After mass, we had an abbreviated practice to go over the songs for next week.
We reviewed 'I Have Been Anointed', our prelude this week. We barely had enough people to cover the parts, but after going over it, should be in a decent place to do this on Saturday. The biggest question that was raised was how the song will be structured?
I ran on the assumption that we'll begin with everyone (or just women) on melody before introducing parts the second time around. The common arrangement of this piece is: women on melody first time, introduce all parts second time, key change third time, solo verse fourth time, and the refrain once more the last time.
We also spent a little time on 'Veni Sancte Spiritus', but didn't really have enough people to do much with it. Since I'm told Maggie will be out the next few weeks, we'll need to revise the song structure accordingly.
UPDATE: Fr. Charlie has asked that we not do 'Veni Sancte', so it's been replaced with 'Let Us Be Bread'. Jonathan will be discussing that with Father at a later time.
Finally, we went over the rest of the songs for mass.
Maggie and Emily are out this week.
