MERRY CHRISTMAS, ALL!
As you know, we're covering the 5:30 PM Christmas Eve mass. In addition, I've been helping with the planning and coordination of the 4:00 PM Children's Mass. Karina and I will be staying through for both services. I just wanted to put out a few quick notes before we get too far into the holiday week (usual weekly updates for Saturday mass will be posted later).
Since the four weeks of Advent are behind us, we'll resume singing the Gloria starting this Tuesday. Also, as per Father's memo, there will be no Psalm and we're only to do enough music to 'cover the action'.
Also, I learned that all the other choirs are having someone cantor the mass parts from the podium in choir section. In speaking with Jonathan, we think this would be a good idea -- it's not essential, but if anyone's up to it, let me know.
Our report time for mass will be about 5:10 PM (or as soon as possible after the 4 PM mass wraps) -- keep in mind that it may take longer to actually get to the Church, as overflow parking is located at Graysdale Park.
Finally, we won't have a chance to practice anything before mass, so please keep in mind everything we went over on Saturday.
Here's our Christmas 2013 program (I'll leave the song specifics to Jonathan):
Prelude:
O Holy Night (solo w/ accompaniment - Jaclyn)
Gathering:
GC 377 - The First Nowell
Gloria:
Mass of Joy & Peace
Alleluia (Cris):
Mass of Joy & Peace
Offertory:
GC 380 - What Child is This
Meditation:
GC 352 - Silent Night (instrumental - Karina & Jim)
Communion:
SS 114 - Go Tell it On the Mountain (James Taylor-style)
GC 352 - Silent Night (in parts)
Closing:
GC 343 - Joy to the World
Thank you all for your hard work in putting together this mass -- It's been fun, and I'm looking forward to seeing it all come together Tuesday night!
