17th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Great work last week! We had a nice mix of styles, and several folks commented that the music was exceptionally strong! The Reign of God and Come to the Feast are definitely songs we should play with more next time; it was fun singing a Killoren piece again too :-). Here's the audio.
Special thanks to Joe, Lisa & Anya for helping with setup, sound, kitchen, games & cleanup for the Parish Picnic last Sunday! We had around 70 people attend, and everyone seemed to have a good time!
August music is nearly finalized and will probably post in the next few days (or this weekend at the latest). I'm also hoping to have the cantor schedule ready by early next week. If you haven't already let me know your availability, please give me a shout before then.
It looks like Masses for Assumption will be celebrated on Friday, August 14th @ 7 PM (Vigil) and Saturday, August 15th @ 9 AM (I'll confirm). Since Assumption falls on a Saturday this year, it's not a Holy Day of Obligation. More on that once we sort out the plan for coverage!
Finally, the choir leads received a request from the Peace & Justice (formerly Social Justice) Ministry to include creation-themed music during the Season of Creation (September 6th - October 4th). This year's theme is 'Living Water'. We'll coordinate on the details before then. Stay tuned!

If you're feeling adventurous, this is another one with nice harmonies on the refrain. Don't worry about the ooh's on the verses, though! The verses are meant to be sung by a cantor, with everyone else on ooh, something we haven't played with yet.**

**Please take a look if unfamiliar! We've only sung this a few times before.
Keep in mind that verses one & two use a very similar melody, while three & four are different. Also, there's a bit of an interlude between the refrain and verse three, so don't come in too early :-).
