Body & Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi)
Nicely done, last week! We had a great mix of music, and the harmonies were particularly strong!
Our June music and cantor schedule is ready! Corpus Christi will be our last major feast for a while; we return to 'regular' Ordinary Time Masses starting next week. Let me know if you see any issues!
A quick update on the Mass Setting change for Summer and Ordinary Time. We were looking at using Bob Killoren's Mass of the Good Shepherd, but long story short, a piano score still needs to be written out for it. Instead, we'll go with Mass of Creation. That change will happen next Saturday, 06/13. Let's review the parts during rehearsal this week.
Last Saturday, we discovered an issue with some broken wires on the piano lamp (they snapped off of a connector after a few years of use). Karl (our Facilities Manager) was in touch with the vendor, and they're sending replacement parts. So that saves us the cost of a whole new lamp! In the meantime, we have those battery-powered lights if needed.
If interested, here's the Music Ministry report that was submitted to the Prayer & Worship Chair for tomorrow's Pastoral Council meeting. This may be the last report for a few months, as the PC often goes on break for the Summer.
Finally, the Prayer Service for Peace is still on for Thursday, June 11th @ 7 PM. I'm now cantoring, so join us if you're able! We could still use singers & instrumentalists. Rehearsal will be @ 6:30 PM that evening.
Enjoy the lovely weather, and see you Saturday!
(All Mass Parts, except the Gospel Acclamation, are from Mass of Remembrance, including the Gloria, Holy, Eucharistic Acclamation 'A' (We Proclaim Your Death), Doxology & Lamb of God)
Out: Karen, Ginny (tentative)
Entrance:
GC3 #852 - All Who Hunger, Gather Gladly (Dunstan)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**If you're not familiar with this one, the tune is HOLY MANNA. We'll sing all three verses, with a slight pause between each.**
(Glory to God)
Responsorial Ps (Lisa):
SS #062 - Ps 34 - Taste and See (Hurd)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**After the third verse, there's a key change leading into the final refrain. The final refrain is done twice. Please watch for the retard and instrument drop near the end!**
Sequence & Acclamation (Cris):
Corpus Christi Sequence (Poppleton)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**This Sequence/Acclamation isn't in the book, but it's the same one we did last year. Please bring a copy if you're able! Just like Pentecost, I'll cantor, but everyone's welcome to join! Just keep in mind that the range is a bit low.
The verses are written in pairs. After verse nine and an Alleluia/Amen tag, the piece goes right into an included Gospel Acclamation (we won't sing the one out of SS). Father asked for a pause between the Sequence and Acclamation, though. If it's problematic, I can see about doing it as written instead.**
Preparation:
SS #150 - Bread of Life (Fisher)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**This may be slightly long for Offertory, but let's plan to do the whole thing. Also, don't forget about the key change after verse two!**
(Mass Parts)
Communion:
SS #159 (GC3 #917) - O Taste and See (Haugen)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**The refrain will be sung twice each time. Also keep in mind that the melodies on all six verses are different, so please take a look before Saturday! I believe the arrangements in SS & GC are the same; the music is just laid out a bit differently.**
Closing:
GC3 #835 - They’ll Know We Are Christians (Scholtes)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**Let's plan on all four verses. We'll sing them back-to-back, so no break in between.**
