13th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Nicely done last week! We had a great mix of classics and less-common tunes. The harmonies sounded lovely too! I heard some comments from folks who really enjoyed the selections :-). Here's the audio.
I also appreciate the help with resetting the Sanctuary after that 2 PM wedding. It didn't take long for a few of us to rearrange chairs, replace the Altar cloth, etc..
The new Pictorial Directory is now available! If you had an individual/family portrait taken (or submitted a photo), you're entitled to a free Directory. Otherwise, these are $10/copy. The Music Ministry is featured on page #7; the spread includes the group photo we took last October.
Just as a heads up, July music will be posted earlier than usual. Barb H. is away next week, so we're trying to take care of a few things ahead of time. The music should be up by this weekend. Stay tuned!
Rita was also in touch -- she's running into too many Saturday conflicts and won't be able to join us regularly after all. She ended up hopping over to the 8:30 group, but will stay on our email list and join us when she can!
We have about five people out this week, so it'll be an 'all hands on deck' kind of Saturday. If anyone else is away (or able to join us), please let me know ASAP! Also, let's be extra careful about tempos and cues -- I'll do my best to give these from the mics!
Finally, a quick update on the KofC Mass planned for July 11th. Barb P. was very interested in helping. We were (slowly!) finding out details from State, but learned earlier this week that they already arranged coverage with someone else. It sounds like we're off the hook, but I'll let you know if anything changes.
That's all for now. Have a great week!
(All Mass Parts, except the Gospel Acclamation, are from Mass of Creation, including the Gloria, Holy, Eucharistic Acclamation 'B' (When We Eat This Bread), Doxology & Lamb of God)
Out: Jake, Lisa, Maureen, Frank, Ally
Entrance:
SS #109 - Find Us Ready (Booth)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**We've been singing this tune for Advent, but it works for some other occasions too. Let's plan for at least two verses. At the end, we'll skip the Optional Coda and go to the 'regular' Final Ending.**
(Glory to God)
Responsorial Ps (Cris Frank):
GC3 #064 - Ps 89 - For Ever I Will Sing (Haugen)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**I'll cantor this unless anyone else is interested?
We'll sing the regular (not alternate) verses. These are particularly tricky, with minimal accompaniment, tempo changes, triplets and fermatas. We'll need to be careful about staying in-sync!**
Acclamation (Ben):
SS #021 (Mass of a Joyful Heart) (vs 1) (Angrisano)
Preparation:
SS #105 (GC3 #590) - Christ, Be Our Light (Farrell)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**Don't forget that the verses start at a slower tempo, picking up in the second half. The harmony on the refrain would be lovely to include! We'll probably get through at least 3-4 verses, if not all five.**
(Mass Parts)
Communion:
GC3 #946 - Let Us Be Bread (Porter)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**Let's start with a piano/flute instrumental (welcome back, Karen!), before adding in the voices. Including the descant on the refrain would be nice too!**
Closing:
GC3 #761 - God Has Chosen Me (Farrell)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**We'll sing all three verses, with a brief interlude between each. Will probably have a soprano/tenor split on the harmonies.**
