Songs & Updates for Saturday, May 16, 2026

7th Sunday of Easter

Thanks for a strong Mass last week! The harmonies sounded great, and it was fun pulling out some less-common tunes! Here's the audio.

A quick reminder that Masses for Solemnity of the Ascension are this week:
  • Wednesday, May 13th @ 7 PM (Vigil)
  • Thursday, May 14th @ 9 AM

Please join Bev, Maureen and I for the Vigil Mass if you can! The music is posted to our website (I ended up going with a program Joanne drafted; options are a bit limited!). We'll meet around 6:15 to go through the program and any logistics.

On a related note, Dcn. Jack's birthday is this Wednesday. Were planning to sing 'Happy Birthday' after both Ascension Masses :-). Please wish him a happy birthday if you have a chance!

Just as a heads up, Rite of Sending for our Confirmation students is on Sunday, May 16th @ 10:30 AM Mass. Ally & Ginny have some involvement with this liturgy, so they won't be joining us.

Last week, Monica H. invited everyone to her 40th birthday party. It's on Saturday, May 23rd from 4-9 PM in Agape Hall. This is the same day as our Potluck -- rather than rescheduling, we opted to merge the Potluck into Monica's party. Monica said there will be live music (organized by Jonathan), games and food. We're welcome to come by after Mass. If you'd like to RSVP (again), here's her signup.

Finally, on Thursday, June 11th @ 6 PM (or possibly 7 PM -- stay tuned), Good Shepherd will hold a Prayer Service for Peace in the World. See last week's emails for details, but Joanne and the Women's Faith-Sharing group are planning the music. If you'd like to participate, I'll forward details as they become available.

That's all for now. Have a great week!

(All Mass Parts, except the Gospel Acclamation, are from Mass of Remembrance, including the Gloria, Holy, Eucharistic Acclamation 'A' (We Proclaim Your Death), Doxology & Lamb of God)

Out: Karen, Frank, Ally, Ginny

Entrance:
GC3 #519 - Sing to the Mountains (Dufford)

**We haven't done this in quite a while! Ideally, I'd like to sing all three verses. If you're feeling adventurous, there's a descant on the refrain and verse 3; verse 2 also has a four-part split. Practice tracks are in the folder :-).**

(Sprinkling Rite & Glory to God)

Responsorial Ps (TBD Ginny):
SS #061 - Ps 27 - The Lord is My Light (Walker)

**A reminder that this one isn't structured like a normal Psalm -- the verses are sung before the refrain, and the refrain is only sung once the first time (no repeat for the congregation). Also, if anyone's interested, there are additional choral parts in the folder.**

Acclamation (Jake):
SS #005 (GC3 #844) - Alleluia! Give the Glory (vs 7) (Canedo)

Preparation:
GC3 #721 - You Are Mine

**This is another tune we haven't done in quite a while! Don't forget that verses 1 & 2 are sung back-to-back, so we'll only do the refrain after verses 2, 3 & 4. Adding in the harmony on the refrain would be lovely too! We'll probably get through three verses.**

(Mass Parts)

Communion:
SS #166 - Worthy is the Lamb (Manalo)

Closing:
SS #113 (GC3 #775) - Go Make a Difference (Angrisano/Tomaszek)

**Let's plan to sing all three verses. Don't forget that the refrain repeats the first time only! Also, for the final refrain, we'll add clapping; there will be a fermata on the last "...go make a difference" and a retard on "...in the world." (t4C-style). Everything else will be as-written.**
