5th Sunday of Easter / May Crowning
Thanks to everyone who came out for First Communion! I was a bit concerned about our numbers, but having a few additional folks join us was a big help. Everything come together pretty well, and there were some nice comments afterward!
Here's the audio and livestream (it looks like something was up with the levels for the livestream; we'll need to take a look at our settings next time).
Our May music and cantor schedule is ready! As always, let me know if you see any issues. Stay tuned for June & July as well -- I'm hoping to get a jump-start on the Summer!
On a similar note, Masses for Ascension will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 13th @ 7:00 PM (Vigil) and Thursday, May 14th @ 9 AM. Bev is playing for both. As it stands, I'm cantoring the evening liturgy and Barb P. morning. More on the music soon!
Please welcome Rita to the group! She sang with us for First Communion (thanks, Maureen!), and plans to be back next week. It's wonderful to have another strong vocalist in the mix!
Paul has been doing some more work on the Sanctuary sound system. Among other things, you may have noticed that the system now supports wireless handheld mics. The goosenecks for the guitar stand mics have also been replaced (the old ones were worn out and not staying up anymore). Thanks, Paul!
Finally, don't forget that our Spring Potluck is on May 23rd after Mass (Pentecost and Memorial Day weekend). If you haven't already, there's still time to RSVP :-).
I think that's it. Stay dry, and see you Saturday!
(All Mass Parts, except the Gospel Acclamation, are from Mass of Remembrance, including the Gloria, Holy, Eucharistic Acclamation 'A' (We Proclaim Your Death), Doxology & Lamb of God)
Out: Karen, Lisa, Frank, Rita
Entrance:
GC3 #889 - Hail Mary: Gentle Woman (Landry)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**Since it's May Crowning, we're singing a Marion song for Gathering. Ideally, I'd like to sing the whole thing, but we'll play it by ear. The Crowning will take play immediately after the Gathering song, followed by the Gloria (no Sprinkling Rite).**
Responsorial Ps (Jake):
GC3 #044 - Ps 33 - Let Your Mercy Be on Us (Ref I) (Haugen)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**If anyone's interested, there are some nice splits on the refrain, as well as verses three and four :-).**
Acclamation (Ben):
SS #005 (GC3 #844) - Alleluia! Give the Glory (vs 7) (Canedo)
Preparation:
SS #134 (GC3 #582) - Rain Down (Cortez)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
(Mass Parts)
Communion:
GC3 #532 - O Sons and Daughters (Traditional)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**Since there are plenty of verses, let's having someone start the singing; everyone else can join in after returning from Communion. Also, since there aren't any written harmonies, could we 'borrow' the parts from GC3 #537 - Easter Alleluia? That worked well last time.**
Closing:
GC3 #778 - Anthem (Conry)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**We may only get through two verses. If we could include the descant on the refrain, that would be great!**
