Thanks to everyone who came out last week! Other than a few minor issues, everything with Victoria flowed very nicely. I appreciate your flexibility in working through the program! Here's the audio.
Where did the season go!? It's hard to believe that we've reached the final weekend of Lent!
Barb H., Fr. Jozef and I met earlier today to sort out the program for Vigil. Like we touched on before, the printed program (and music!) will be simplified from past years. I'm also in the process of updating the music plan with those tweaks. It should be finalized by end-of-week; stay tuned!
As for rehearsals, here's what I'm looking at for the remainder of the season. Please let me know ASAP if any of these dates don't work! I'm open to other options. And if we're good with that 'dress rehearsal' date, I'll confirm it with Karl:
- Saturday, 03/21 @ 3:30-4:00 PM
- Saturday, 03/28 @ 3:30-4:00 PM
- Sunday, 03/29 @ 1-3 PM - 'Dress Rehearsal' - all music/logistics
- Friday, 04/03 @ 12:30 PM - Good Friday prep
- Saturday, 04/04 @ 7:00 PM - Easter Vigil prep
A reminder that the Diocesan Lenten Reconciliation Service is next Tuesday, 03/24 @ 7 PM. There are only three pieces on the program -- all familiar, except for the Gospel Acclamation. Bev and I are covering. Feel free to join us!
Finally, I reached out to Amy about music for First Communion on 04/25. She's confirming details with Fr. Jozef, and will let us know of any changes from last year. Then we can finalize that program too.
I think that's it. See you Saturday!
(All Mass Parts, except the Lenten Acclamation, are from Mass of Remembrance, including the Penitential, Holy, Eucharistic Acclamation 'A' (We Proclaim Your Death), Doxology & Lamb of God)
Out: Karen, Maureen, Joe, Frank (tentative)
Entrance:
GC3 #596 - Praise to You, O Christ, Our Savior (Farrell)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**Since this is a bit long, we'll probably sing 2-3 verses only. Also, let's be careful about not rushing the tempo -- it's a bit wordy, especially on the verses!**
Penitential Rite (Frank TBD):
Mass of Remembrance (Haugen)
Responsorial Ps (Lisa):
SS #086 - Ps 130 - With the Lord (Thomson)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**Including the lower harmony would be great! Also keep in mind that after the second verse, there's a key change leading into the final refrain.**
Acclamation (Cris):
SS #006 - Praise and Honor (Mass of Glory) (5th A) (Canedo)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**Since next weekend is Palm Sunday, it'll be our last time using this Acclamation for the season. The '5th A' verse returns to the melody used for the first few weeks, so we're going full circle :-).**
Preparation:
GC3 #681 - We Remember (Haugen)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**We haven't sung this one in quite a while! If you have a chance to take a look at the harmonies, that would be great! Practice tracks are in the folder. This one's also long, so we'll aim for 2-3 verses.**
(Mass Parts)
Communion:
GC3 #480 - Mercy, O God (Haugen)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**This is a repeat from earlier in the season. Harmonies would be great! Let's make sure we're in-sync on the two melodies during the refrain (upper and lower). Also, watch for the key change between the refrain & verse!**
Closing:
SS #101 - Beyond the Days (Manalo)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**This piece is always a nice way to bookend the season! Two verses will probably be enough -- we may do the last two just to mix things up a bit.**
