Songs & Updates for Saturday, February 7, 2026 [updated]

5th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Thanks to everyone who was there last week! It was great to have a real woodwind section (flute & clarinet!); the new Closing song, God Sends Us Forth, also came together pretty well! We'll play with that one more later :-). Here's the audio.

Piano update! A tech was on-site last Friday to repair the 'blown out' key that Bev found. They didn't have time to tune the piano and do other maintenance, though, so that'll be taken care of later. We're also looking into possibly repairing and tuning the piano in the Chapel (which has several issues too).

Huge thanks to Joe for replacing the stripped tightening screws on our music stands! These should be good for a while, but please be gentle when making adjustments! Also, try to avoid handling the stands by the upper pole -- over time, oils can cause the mechanisms to slip, leading to over-tightening (no worries, I didn't realize that was a thing either!).

Joanne and I met yesterday to go over Easter Vigil logistics. There's quite a bit going on with the program, so we'll need to jump into rehearsals this month. Stay tuned for a separate note on the plan!

Our February music and cantor schedule is ready! March is coming too. We have two more weeks of Ordinary Time, before Lent kicks off on February 18th. At that time, we'll switch to Mass of Remembrance (including the Penitential Rite) and Praise and Honor for the Acclamation.

Finally, our Winter Potluck is this Saturday after Mass! We're still at 13 attendees. If you have any food to prep, please take care of that before 4:00. That way, we don't lose rehearsal time :-). Let's use the Kitchenette as our staging area and eat in the Warehouse. Looking forward to it!

I think that's all. See you then!

(All Mass Parts, except the Gospel Acclamation, are from Mass of Joy & Peace, including the Gloria, Holy, Eucharistic Acclamation 'B' (When We Eat This Bread), Doxology & Lamb of God)

Out: Karen, Barry

Entrance:
GC3 #778 - Anthem (vs 1-2) (Conry)

**Since this is long, let's plan for two verses. If anyone would like to take on the decant, that would be great!**

(Glory to God)

Responsorial Ps (Frank):
GC3 #1104 - Ps 112 - The Just Man is Light (Guimont) [NEW]

**We have a couple of Guimont Psalms this month, including the one above.

In case you're wondering, I'm trying to be more intentional about picking the 'correct' Psalms each week. Sometimes, the listed Psalm isn't in our books; rather than going with a 'substitute' common Psalm (or pulling the old books), I'm looking at using Guimont versions instead.**

Acclamation (Lisa):
SS #021 - Alleluia (vs 1) (Angrisano)

Preparation:
SS #118 (GC3 #510) - I Am the Light of the World (Hayakawa)

**Please take a look if unfamiliar! We've only done this a couple of times before. The intro is a bit long, so we'll need to get this started fairly quickly. Verses 1 & 2 share the same melody, while 3 is slightly different. There are additional parts in the folder if interested :-).**

(Mass Parts)

Communion:
GC3 #946 - Let Us Be Bread (Porter)

**Would anyone like to get this one started? Then everyone else can join in later? Having someone on the descant would be lovely too!**

Closing:
GC3 #734 - Bring Forth the Kingdom (Haugen)

**Any takers to sing the 'Cantor' parts? Or, we could split the choir between 'Cantor' and 'All'?**
