Thanks for another strong Lent liturgy last week! The harmonies and balance were both excellent! It's wonderful to see all of our season-specific music coming together so well! Here's the audio.
Maureen also passed along some comments from a new parishioner who came to Good Shepherd (and 5:00 Mass specifically) because of the music. That's always great to hear! Keep up the good work :-).
If interested, here's the Music Ministry report that was submitted to the Prayer & Worship Committee for this week's Pastoral Council meeting.
Our music & cantor schedule for April is ready! I'll be in touch if anything changes. May music is also in the works and should be ready soon. A few notes:
- Some emails went out last week regarding the plan for Good Friday & Easter Sunday. Thanks again for your patience! If you're not able to participate in these, please let me know!
- Joanne's music plans for Holy Thursday & Easter Vigil went out too (they're also on the website). Again, please do join us if you're able! I've extended the same invite for Good Friday.
- First Communion music should be finalized. Our Parish Mission priest, Fr. Bell, will co-celebrate Mass with Fr. Jozef. Bev is out, so Victoria will also be joining us on piano. An invite to the Sunday folks went out yesterday. Formal attire, please! We'll likely meet at 3:30 to give us extra prep time. Like Holy Week, let me know if you're not able to be there.
A reminder that we'll meet at 3:30 once again this week. I'd like to clean up Calvary a bit, look at Jesus, Remember Me and review the rest of the music on the program.
Last weekend was our first time not announcing songs per Fr. Jozef's request. Please keep an eye out to see if this affects how many people are singing. My back is turned to the congregation during most songs, so you guys have the better view :-). We can get with Fr. Jozef if this is an issue.
Finally, music planning for the Parish Mission is on hold. There was confusion over whether the evening sessions would be Masses or not. It was decided that they won't be, so we're waiting on an updated plan. We may not have much to do after all! Joanne will be out-of-town, so Barb P. & I have ended up coordinating all three nights. We'll let you know what shakes out!
I think that's it; have a great week!
(All Mass Parts, except the Lenten Gospel Acclamation, are from Mass of Remembrance, including Holy, Eucharistic Acclamation 'A' (We Proclaim Your Death), Doxology & Lamb of God)
Out: Frank, Karen, Joe, Barry, Maureen (sick), Jake (sick)
Entrance:
GC3 #475 - Tree of Life (vs 1-3 & Lent 5th Sun. verse) (Haugen)
Materials (**links removed**))
**We'll sing the first three verses, followed by this week's Sunday-specific verse (which we'll announce). If interested, the refrain from Adoramus Te Christe can also be used as a descant on the final verse.**
Penitential Rite (Ginny):
Mass of Remembrance
Mass of Remembrance
Responsorial Ps (Lisa):
Old GC #124 - Ps 126 - God Has Done Great Things for Us (Haugen)
Materials (**links removed**))
**This Psalm is out of the old (green) GC books. Singers, please bring a copy if you're able! Harmonies would great if you know them! For the hymn boards, we'll just leave a blank line where the Psalm would normally go; everything else can be listed as normal.**
Acclamation (Ben):
SS #006 - Praise and Honor (‘5th C’ verse) (Canedo)
RCIA Dismissal:
SS #211 - Thy Word is a Lamp (Ref x2) (Smith)
Materials (**links removed**))
Preparation:
SS #180 - Here I Am (Booth)
Materials (**links removed**))
**We'll likely get through two verses only. Please make sure you're comfortable with the melodies on the refrain and verses, as they're all different. There's also parts in the folder if interested.**
(Mass Parts)
Communion:
GC3 #945 - I Am the Bread of Life (Toolan)
Materials (**links removed**))
**Since we're light on instrumentalists, let's begin with a shorter instrumental (verse & refrain) before having someone start the singing. That way, we can (hopefully) get through all of the verses. The usual alto/tenor harmonies would be great :-).**
Commendation:
Song of Farewell (Schutte)
Song of Farewell (Schutte)
Closing:
SS #101 - Beyond the Days (Manalo)
Materials (**links removed**))
**Ideally, I'd like to sing all four verses, but we'll likely only get through 2-3, depending on timing.**
