2nd Sunday in Ordinary Time
Thanks for another great Mass last week! We were mostly at full staff and had a larger crowed than usual. Several folks commented on how nice and well-balanced everything sounded, so good work! Check out the audio HERE.For those who asked about the sound system issues during rehearsal, the master volume was turned all the way up for testing/troubleshooting purposes, which is why we got that nasty feedback when powering everything on. Special thanks to Deacon Jack and Joe for getting this sorted out. Now we know for next time :-).
Last week, Father requested that we minimize delays when starting the Alleluia. Moving forward, let's be ready to jump into it immediately after the Second Reading (I'd like to be on the intro when Father stands). We should try to do the same for everything else.
For Holy Spirit, cantors will be needed for the verses (let me know if interested). There's also an RCIA Rite of Dismissal scheduled, so we'll sing A Lamp for Our Feet.
I Have Been Anointed is our new Closing song this week. We touched on this last Saturday, but please take a look if unfamiliar. I'd like to include the voice parts if possible. Note that this does have a piano part, but it's really intended to be done with percussion-only accompaniment (see below).
A reminder that we have a Double-Baptism and our choir dinner/meeting next weekend, 01/25. Please don't forget to RSVP if you haven't already (signups HERE). Since the Warehouse will be in use for Out of the Cold, we'll need to meet elsewhere (possibly one of the conference rooms; stay tuned).
UPDATE: 01/16: I've reserved Christ the Servant Conference Room for our dinner from 4-9 PM on 01/25.
Finally, as of this writing, the weather is calling for significant snowfall on Saturday. We've been pretty lucky so far, but if this ends up being an issue, we may need to reevaluate the plan. Let's touch base later in the week to discuss if needed.
UPDATE: 01/18: Folks, I'm going to closely monitor the weather conditions today. If things continue to worsen, I may opt to cancel Music Ministry activities, even if Mass is still on. At the very least, there's a good chance many of us won't be able to attend (be safe!) and we'll need to regroup next week. Stay tuned...
UPDATE: 01/18: Things aren't looking good out my way, so I'm staying put tonight. Several folks have indicated that they're planning to be there, so rehearsal/Mass is still on. If you do choose to venture out, please be extra super careful and watch for ice (especially later this evening). Stay safe, and we'll regroup next week!
Jim is tentatively out this week.
