Season of Creation
26th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Good work last week! Pretty much all of our selections were slower pieces, which was a bit of a change in pace. Age to Age sounded nice for a first run, and Touch the Earth Lightly was especially strong. Come to the Water would be fun to revisit when we have more time to work out the details. Audio HERE.If you haven't poked around the website lately, I'd encourage you to take a look. Quite a few content updates have been made to the 'static' pages. Lots of good resources available.
For awareness, I've been field-testing a new recording device, the Zoom Q2n 4K, to supplement audio from my H1 and H1n. Due to the huge file sizes, I'm not planning to use this device all the time, but will probably break it out for special occasions. Let me know if any questions/concerns!
Two weddings are on the board for noon and 2:30 PM. Bev will be playing at both. These shouldn't affect practice, but a heads up just in case (expect lots of activity in the building).
It looks like RCIA has a class, so we'll likely be singing A Lamp For Our Feet for the dismissal. Also keep in mind that Pan de Vida includes both Spanish and English text, so you may want to use the English-only version below (we have plenty of copies on file). On a similar note, please make sure you're familiar with the arrangement of With One Voice, as we haven't done this in a while.
Looking ahead, Mass on 10/05 will be a special Baptism for a 10 year-old child. Bev and Jim are both out that week, so I'm working on sorting out coverage. Stay tuned.
Finally, looking even further out, I'm starting to put together a plan for Christmas. Rehearsals will begin in October (schedule TBD). As it stands, here's what I'm thinking for preludes/postludes -- please check out the linked recordings below and let me know your thoughts. Nothing's set in stone at this point, so if you have other ideas (for example, we still need instrumental pieces), I'm open to suggestions. Thanks!
- God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen/We Three Kings (BNL)
- Carol of the Bells (Wilhousky)
- Masters in This Hall (Parker/Shaw)
- Finale for Christmas (Kern)
Have a great rest of the week, and see you Saturday!
