This Saturday is the Feast of the Epiphany of the Lord.
Happy New Year, all!
We had a few minor issues at mass last week, but after surviving Christmas Eve, I wasn't too worried about it. We did not stick around to practice since several people weren't able to stay and the music for January wasn't ready yet.
On Monday night, I finished picking the songs for January and sent them off to the Office for approval. One of my goals going into the new year is to select monthly music further in advance to avoid the last-minute rush to get approval and to give you guys a chance to practice at home beforehand.
I'll also continue trying to reduce the number of pieces to practice each week by having the same song for Gathering and Closing as much as possible (but different verses) and a common monthly Communion song.
If anyone is interested in cantoring the the Psalm and/or Alleluia, please let me know.
Masses for the Solemnity of Mary are being held this evening at 5:30 PM (anticipated) and Thursday morning at
This will be our last week of using the Penitential Rite, but we'll continue to use Mass of Joy & Peace until further notice.
There will be practice after mass this week from 6:30-8:00 PM -- the plan so far is to:
- review the songs for January
- pick Psalm/Alleluia cantors for the next two weeks
- discuss the plan for the new year
